Bloody Southern Caesar: Spicy Bloody Caesar Cocktail Recipe
Sep 18, 2025
If you want a savory drink with real attitude, the Bloody Southern Caesar is your girl. Emmy award winning chef Lara Lyn Carter created this recipe for us. She also taught us how to do a proper jazz square when we were kids, so trust me when I say she knows her stuff. This Caesar has heat, brine and a smoky crunch from the bacon rim. It is a crowd pleaser and a guaranteed party starter.

What Is A Caesar Cocktail
A Caesar is Canada’s pride. It is built with vodka, Clamato, Worcestershire and hot sauce, then dressed up with a bold garnish. The magic comes from Clamato, which gives the drink its briny, savory character. Our Southern version brings in Crawfish Boil Bitters and a bacon rim for extra depth and spice.

Why It Tastes So Southern
Crawfish Boil Bitters bring paprika, cayenne and savory spice that play beautifully with the briny Clamato. The bacon rim adds smoky umami. Together they turn the Caesar into a richer, deeper drink with real Louisiana spirit. It is bold, salty and full of flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do Crawfish Boil Bitters taste like?
They taste like a Cajun boil in a bottle. Paprika. Cayenne. Red pepper. Savory spice. Gumbo Bitters add even more herbaceous depth.
Can I use gin instead of vodka?
Yes. Gin adds a botanical note that works well with the spice and brine.
What is Clamato juice?
It is tomato juice mixed with clam broth. That briny mix is what sets a Caesar apart from a Bloody Mary.
