About El Guapo

We like to say we manufacture 'everything but the booze'. Our bitters, syrups, mixers and canned bitters & soda are made with love in the capital of cocktails - New Orleans, Louisiana. We focus on customer service, sustainability and quality ingredient sourcing.

Impeccable sourcing is our love language.

We source the highest quality raw materials to create the best elixirs possible. We regularly source from regional farmers (some are even family members!) And, we work with the best spice importers in the business. Our entire product line is non-GMO and there aren't any weird ingredients in our bottles or on our labels. No words you cannot pronounce, flavors, colors, extracts, essences, high-fructose corn syrup, soy, gluten, yadda yadda yadda. Our syrups and mixers are made with pure Louisiana cane sugar. Our bitters are no-sugar added and vegan, too!

All of our products are alcohol free.

We also live on the front lines of climate change, and we don’t take that lightly. With hurricanes, flash floods, abnormal summer heat waves and other weather patterns regularly affecting New Orleans, we understand the need for sustainable practices. We want to be as Earth friendly as possible. Our labels are made from recycled craft paper. We  exclusively bottle in glass and can in aluminum because the planet deserves better than plastic. We even hand dip every bottle in wax to avoid adding single use plastic seals to the landfill.

Our CEO, Christa Cotton, is an advisor for Glass Half Full, our local glass recycling company and associated non-profit. Did you know Louisiana loses a football field of land every 100 minutes due to coastal erosion? At Glass Half Full, we recycle glass back into sand for coastal restoration. In fact, Glass Half Full won a $5 million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation to further the research. Spoiler alert: it's working.

But quality is about more than activism & ingredients

(though we certainly go above and beyond in pursuit of excellence in those departments).

To us, quality isn’t just about what’s in the bottle — it’s about how it got there, who made it, and why we bother in the first place. We believe in making damn good products, in the city we love, by a team that truly cares. It’s about showing up, doing things the right way (even when it’s harder), and pouring our heart into every batch.

For us, quality means being part of your bar cart, your dinner parties, your Sunday brunches and wedding toasts. It’s about adding flavor to your favorite moments and building a business that reflects our roots, our standards, and the spirit of New Orleans. The kind of products bartenders swear by and grandmothers hoard for special occasions.
