We've partnered with The Alma Sugarcane Mill in Lakeland, Louisiana to create this thick and delicious single origin Demerara made of the finest sugar Louisiana's terroir has to offer. We added a hint of dried orange peel to round out the flavors in the bottle.
It is absolutely perfect for everything from an Old Fashioned to a Sazerac or milk punch. Try it on waffles, with ice cream or in baking recipes, too. We’re so excited to share it with you - our loyal following - first.
Did you know - Demerara was a Dutch colony from 1745–1792 and then a Dutch state colony until 1815. In 1812, the British took control and merged Demerara with Essequibo to form the British colony of Demerara-Essequibo.
Demerara sugar is a coarse, light brown, raw sugar with a crunchy texture that comes from sugarcane. It contains a small amount of molasses, which gives it a caramel flavor. Demerara syrup is made by combining Demerara sugar with water. It has a richer flavor than simple syrup and is often used in classic cocktails.
