Frequently Asked Questions

What does añejo tequila taste like?

Añejo tequila is aged in oak barrels for one to three years, giving it a rich, smooth flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, and a hint of spice. This makes it an excellent substitute for whiskey in an old fashioned, as it has a similar complexity.

What makes Polynesian Kiss Bitters unique?

The El Guapo™ Polynesian Kiss Bitters offer a tropical flavor profile unlike traditional bitters. They feature notes of passion fruit, guava, pineapple, and subtle spices, which transport you to a tropical paradise with every sip.

Can I use a different sweetener?

While agave nectar is the traditional choice for tequila cocktails because it's derived from the same plant, you can use simple syrup as a substitute. The measurement would be roughly the same: one bar spoon or about 1/4 ounce.

Is this cocktail very sweet?

No, this añejo tequila old fashioned is not overly sweet. The agave nectar balances the bitterness from the bitters and the subtle heat from the alcohol. The lime wheels add a fresh acidity that keeps the drink from becoming syrupy.
