Layering the Heat: Fuego Bitters in a Spicy Tequila Cocktail
This drink works because the heat is layered, not loud for the sake of it. Ghost pepper tequila brings smoky spice. El Guapo Fuego Bitters deepen that heat with chili, smoke and bright citrus. The muddled pepper adds fresh intensity. Raspberry liqueur softens the edges. Every ingredient has a job. Every element plays nicely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is ghost pepper tequila really hot?
Yes. Ghost pepper tequila brings serious heat. The exact spice level depends on the brand. In Too Hot to Handle, the other ingredients balance the fire so you get flavor with the burn.
Can I use a different type of tequila or pepper?
Yes. Swap in a habanero tequila for a softer spice or use a blanco tequila if you prefer less heat. Jalapeño or serrano peppers work well for muddling and garnish.
What do El Guapo Fuego Bitters add?
They bring a steady, complex heat. Fuego Bitters highlight the ghost pepper tequila and support the smoky mezcal without overpowering the drink.
How can I make this drink less spicy?
Skip muddling the fresh pepper. Use a milder rim salt. Cut back on the Fuego Bitters. You will still get plenty of flavor.
Can I scale this for a party?
Yes. Multiply the liquid ingredients for the number of drinks you need. Muddle the peppers and raspberries in a larger container. Shake individual servings with ice before pouring so each drink stays cold and balanced.
