Forever Flora: A Floral White Negroni
Oct 08, 2026
What makes a Negroni so beloved is the balance of bitter, sweet, and spirit. Think about the drink in those terms, rather than as three ingredients that can never change, and suddenly there is a lot of room to play.
Forever Flora, from our friend Meaghan Dorman of Dear Irving on Broadway, takes that classic Negroni structure somewhere softer, greener, and more floral. Dorothy Parker American Gin provides the botanical backbone, Luxardo Bitter Bianco brings the bitter element, génépy adds earthy alpine herbs, and just a teaspoon of El Guapo™ Rose Cordial rounds everything out.
Instead of leaning into the orange and red-fruit profile associated with a classic Negroni, Meaghan shifts the drink toward flowers, herbs, and grapefruit.
It is still very much a Negroni drinker’s drink. It just happens to be wearing a different outfit.

How Rose Cordial Changes the Negroni Equation
A teaspoon does not sound like much.
That is exactly the point.
El Guapo™ Rose Cordial gives Forever Flora just enough sweetness and floral character to soften the bitter and herbal ingredients without turning the drink into a rose cocktail.
In a classic Negroni, sweet vermouth provides sweetness along with herbs, spice, and body. Meaghan breaks those jobs apart here. Génépy supplies earthy alpine character, Luxardo Bitter Bianco contributes bitterness and citrusy botanicals, and Rose Cordial provides a small but important touch of sweetness and floral depth.
Dorothy Parker American Gin is particularly at home in that combination. Its botanical profile includes juniper, elderberry, citrus, cinnamon, and hibiscus, giving the other floral and herbal ingredients plenty to work with.
The expressed grapefruit peel finishes everything with bright citrus oils.
Same equation. Entirely different answer.

Tips & Variations
- Think in balance: Forever Flora works because it preserves the bitter, sweet, and spirit structure of a Negroni even though the individual ingredients have changed.
- Measure the cordial: One teaspoon is intentional. The rose should sit inside the cocktail rather than announce itself before everything else.
- Use a large cube: This is a spirit-forward drink meant to open gradually as you sip. A large cube keeps it cold while slowing dilution.
- Express the grapefruit: Hold the peel over the finished drink and give it a firm twist so the citrus oils land directly on the surface.
- Keep everything cold: Chilling the spirits before service helps the cocktail reach the right temperature without requiring excessive stirring and dilution.
- Let the herbs lead: This riff is designed to move away from the orange-forward personality of a traditional Negroni. The floral, alpine, and earthy notes are the point.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Forever Flora taste like?
Forever Flora is bitter, botanical, floral, and earthy with a bright grapefruit finish. The gin provides juniper and citrus, génépy brings alpine herbs, Bitter Bianco supplies the bitter backbone, and Rose Cordial adds a small amount of floral sweetness.
How is Forever Flora different from a classic Negroni?
A classic Negroni traditionally combines gin, sweet vermouth, and a red bitter aperitivo in equal proportions. Forever Flora keeps the same basic tension between spirit, bitterness, sweetness, and botanicals but builds it with gin, Bitter Bianco, génépy, and Rose Cordial. The result is lighter in color and more floral and herbal in flavor.
What is génépy?
Génépy is an herbal liqueur associated with the Alpine regions of Europe. Its profile is typically herbaceous, earthy, and gently sweet, which makes it especially useful in cocktails that need the complexity of an herbal modifier without the heavier character of sweet vermouth.
What does Rose Cordial add to Forever Flora?
El Guapo™ Rose Cordial contributes a measured touch of sweetness and floral character. At just one teaspoon, it supports the gin and herbal liqueurs rather than dominating them, helping round the drink while reinforcing its floral direction.
Can I batch Forever Flora for a party?
Yes. Combine the gin, Bitter Bianco, génépy, and Rose Cordial in the appropriate proportions and keep the mixture well chilled. Stir individual servings over a large cube and express a fresh grapefruit peel over each drink just before serving.
